ACCORDION  QUARTET
CONSONANSE


The Consonance quartet was formed in 1996 in expression of the professional and spiritual consonance of the four artists: Peter and Angel Marinovi; and Elena and Victor Melnik.


Peter Marinov was born in 1952 in Assenovgrad, Bulgaria. His teachers were Assen Vakarelov and, later at the Academy of Music and Dance Art (AMDA) in Plovdiv, Georgi Galabov. In 1968, he won the first prize at the International Accordion Festival in Klingenthal, Germany. Peter Marinov has lectured full-time at AMDA since 1976. In 1996, he published a textbook, Essays on Accordion Teaching Methods. His students have won over forty national and international prizes in Bulgaria, Italy, and Switzerland. 
Angel Marinov was born in Assenovgrad, Bulgaria in 1975. He began studying the accordion under the guidance of his father and, while at the School of Music in Plovdiv, under that of Diana Alexieva. He is currently enrolled at AMDA, in Peter Marinov’s accordion class and Prof. Bozhidar Abrashev’s composition class. Angel Marinov is a 1995 winner of the International Accordion Festival in Castelfidardo, Italy. 
Elena Melnik was born in 1966 in Kaliningrad, Russia. Galina Davidova and Lyudmila Winter taught her at the Riga School of Music. She graduated from P.I. Chaykovsky National Academy of Music (PICNAM) in Kiev, Ukraine, in Prof. Nikolay Davidov’s accordion class. Prior to 1996, she has been an accordion teacher at the School of Culture in Kiev. 

Victor Melnik was born in 1963 in Rovno, Ukraine. He took his first steps in Konstantine Morokhovetz’s button accordion class and continued his study under Alfred Grebenyuk’s guidance at the School of Music in Kiev, Ukraine. He graduated from PICNAM in Kiev, in Prof. Dmitriy Alexeev’s button accordion class. Alongside his education, Victor Melnik earned a qualification in accordion tuning and repair. He has worked as an accordion tuning and repair expert at PICNAM until 1996. Distinguished artists such as Bezfamilnov, Zubitzky, Fyodorov, and Fenyuk (Ukraine); Elisabeth Moser (Germany); Max Bonet (France); Morten Rosen (Denmark), and many others have entrusted their instruments to his hands.
 

 

The quartet made its debut in 1996 followed by concerts and tours throughout Bulgaria.
